

Aloha Community
Aloha is an unincorporated community on the east shore of Mullett Lake, about 8 miles south of Cheboygan. The settlement formed around the James B. Patterson sawmill and the F. Hout General Store and was a station on the Detroit and Mackinac Railway (now the North Eastern State Trail). The name was selected by mill owner Patterson, who had made a trip to Hawaii.

The Geography
Aloha State Park is just to the south and offers camping at the center of the Inland Lakes Waterways.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 32.4 square miles, of which 29.5 square miles is land and 2.9 square miles, or 8.91%, is water.
Aloha Township Budget Public Hearing Notice
The Aloha Township Board will hold a public hearing on the proposed township budget for fiscal year 2025-2026 on Monday, March 10, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. The property tax millage rate proposed to be levied to support the proposed budget will be subject of this hearing. 2025 March Board of Review – Aloha Township
The Aloha Township March Board of Review will meet at the Aloha Township Hall, located at 2037 Mann Rd. Cheboygan, MI 49721, on the following dates:
- Tuesday, March 4, 2025, 2 p.m. Organizational Meeting
- Monday, March 10, 2025, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Appeal Hearing
- Tuesday, March 11, 2025, 3 p.m. – 9 p.m. Appeal Hearing
The Board of Review will meet as many days deemed necessary to hear questions, protests, and to equalize the 2025 assessments. By board resolution, taxpayers can protest by letter, sent to: Clayton McGovern 223 South Huron St. Cheboygan, MI 49721, or email: claym1952@gmail.com, provided protest is received prior to March 10, 2025.
The tentative ratios and the estimated multipliers for each class of real property and personal property for 2025 are as follows:
- Agricultural – 42.65% – 1.17233
- Commercial – 44.43% – 1.1253
- Industrial – 43.42% – 1.15154
- Residential – 41.34% – 1.20948
- Personal Property – 50.00% – 1.00000
- No Timber Cutover or Developmental Properties/Classes
