Aloha is an unincorporated community on the east shore of Mullett Lake, about 8 miles south of Cheboygan. The settlement formed around the James B. Patterson sawmill and the F. Hout General Store and was a station on the Detroit and Mackinac Railway (now the North Eastern State Trail). The name was selected by mill owner Patterson, who had made a trip to Hawaii.
Aloha State Park is just to the south and offers camping at the center of the Inland Lakes Waterways.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 32.4 square miles, of which 29.5 square miles is land and 2.9 square miles, or 8.91%, is water.
